Owen's new toy

In Training - Plan X
When you are becoming first time parents, you have all these ideas of how life will be with a baby, what routine looks like, and how I'll be able to balance everything. Will he sleep through the night? How long will he sleep? You have A Plan ... and it goes flying out the window the first breath they take. You come up with another plan...and that too goes flying out the window. You would think after 6 months, I would embrace the unexpected without question...But still as Owen cried last night at 12:45am, all I can do is think 'What time is it? Will he go back to bed? He can't be hungry already? Doesn't he understand it's the weekend?'
So I feed him and put him back to bed and he was up and ready for the day at 7am this morning. Another new day! :)

Insider Scoop
MA...Dawn Complete is completely dead... I've been told that you might find some bottles still on shelves in the Dollar Channel (Dollar General, Big Lots, etc) because they move inventory slowest of all the channels.

Gung Hay Fat Choy (Happy New Year)
Yesterday was Chinese New Year - 2007 is year of the Pig. In case your wondering if you were born under the Pig sign you are highly regarded for your chilvary & purness of heart, and you often make friends for life.
The 'forecast' for the Dragon during this Pig year is quite positive - one full of much happiness and celebration. I guess we'll see if that holds true. I'll have to take a look to see what Tom's forecast is. Hopefully, he got rid of all his negative chi on the soccer field on Sat. It was his first game in 5 weeks (3 due to injury and 2 weeks of no games for the team) and within the first 10 min, he was told by the ref to calm down before 1/2 way through the 2nd half, he got his red card.
I get the day off today but Tom doesn't so it feels like when I was on maternity leave with the exception that I was compelled to do a little work while Owen is down for his nap. BUT I only was on my PC for 5 min. before deciding that work could wait but I NEEDED to catch up on Gray's Anatomy from last Thurs. Now, I wish today is Thursday so I can get closure on what happened to Meredith.

A Long Weekend
I almost forgot that it is President's Day on Monday - more importantly, that I have a 3-day weekend. Yesterday, I actually had to decline a meeting that I originally accepted because it had slipped my mind.
We woke up today to more snow - they forecasted 1-3" over the entire weekend but I think 2" fell by 10AM today and it is still coming down. It reminds me of home (good ole Oak Creek, WI) and the fun we had as kids in the snow.
Needless to say, there isn't much going on with all the snow. We do have a soccer game later today and this morning, I gave Owen his first haircut. I was trying to hold off because it sounded silly to me that my 5 month old son needed a haircut. But it was aggravating that people will comment on what a 'Beautiful Girl' I have even if he is dressed from head to toe in blue. So I thought maybe it was the hair - it was looking like old man comb over/surfer dud-ish. Here is a pic of him getting it cut.
Also decide to post a pic of our newly painted Dining Room. We are pretty pleased with how it turned out. Now, we just need new window treatments, light fixture, and wall plates. Decorating your home just never ends...

White Death - Round 2
More snow - just what we need. People here get very anxious at the mention of snow. Yesterday, schools were cancelling class for today and at work, people didn't want to set up meetings for today. Each time I said, 'how about tomorrow?' their answers were along the line of 'well, i don't know about you, but I don't plan on being at work - didn't you hear that it was going to snow?' and give me the look that said where have YOU been?!?
We did get snow and then freezing rain on top of that. Lucky for me, I worked from home today as did 1/2 of Cincinnati so I didn't have to battle the Cincy drivers. We took a few pictures to share. Our poor tree, the freezing rain pulled it into 4 different directions. We had to take the picture through the window because we couldn't open our back door.

Here is a pic of Owen enjoying his first snowfall with Dad last week! (White Death- Round 1)

Another Superbowl Gone
Last weekend we had our usual Superbowl gathering and we paid even less attention to the game than the year before. The normal cast showed up with 2 new additions ofcourse - Ethan & Owen :) I made the sugar cookies this year instead of Amy because she wanted to test out her new cake pan - which makes a cake in the shape of a stadium. I was going to go without the cookies but that would be breaking a tradition that is one everyone looks forward to...how to rearrange the letters for a more 'provacative' phrase. This is this year's before and after.
